Maroš Bavoľár - Together, Millions of Stars Apart

Maroš Bavoľár (*2000), born and raised in Košice, Slovakia, is a student at the Faculty of Fine Arts in Brno (FaVU VUT), currently studying in Painting Studio No. 3. His practice centers on figurative painting and drawing, with a strong focus on masculinity, its symbols, representations, and phenomena. At the core of his work are themes such as vulnerability and sensitivity within masculinity, collective queer experience, homoeroticism, and sexuality. By drawing sources directly from vintage pornography, he explores and reframes desire and memory, and introduces a soft and tender approach to the appropriation of pornography. He is currently on a two-month residency at the City Surfer Office gallery in Žižkov, Prague.
