"Flowers are not to be picked. Flowers are to be admired."
Searching for a contrast between natural and artificial. Something that is inherent to reality but is currently removed from it as too embarrassing or personal. We want to admire flowers, but do flowers want to be admired by us?
Veronika Čechmánková (b.1996) is a Czech artist that primarily focuses on the process and the changes that occur – symbols and traditions in time, their transformation, and possible meanings in the present. She takes visual and cultural pieces of history and examines their validity and possibilities in the context of "the now". The crux of her work is layering, mixing, and matching references that form a wholly new outlook on deeply traditional archetypes and symbols. Her recent exhibitions include CCA FUTURA, Karlín Studios, both Prague and Studio Vortex, Arles.
