Their work explores themes of gender and identity, with a particular emphasis on the human figure, the queer body and the nuances of performance. They are fascinated by the ways in which we present ourselves to the world, and the ways in which we negotiate the sometimes conflicting demands of self-expression and social expectation. They believe that photography and performance combined together is a powerful tool for exploring the boundaries of self and identity as much as questioning the assumptions and expectations that shape our lives.

♡All proceeds support independent art collective SVĚTOVA 1 and our ongoing cultural program♡

Shalva Nikvashvili
10 limited riso print (2023)
42 x 29.7 cm
signed and numbered in verso
not framed

This print was created at Paper Can Dance as the part of the second As We Grow program, led by Shalva Nikvashvili in 2023.

Shalva Nikvashvili (@shalvanikvashvili) is a contemporary artist born in Sighnaghi, Georgia, in 1990, currently residing and working in Germany.
